Mumbai, Apr 7: Dattani has used young politicians like Milind Deora and Sachin Pilot as reference points for his role in Life Mein Kabhi Kabhi.

Sammir Dattani is extremely excited about playing a politician in Vikram Bhatt's Life Mein Kabhi Kabhi, because he has modelled the role on Milind Deora, the Congress MP from South Mumbai.

Says Sammir, "I am anxious and excited about LMKK. When Vikram came to me with the script, I was completely blown away.

There was so much scope for me to do something different.

Initially, I play a college-going guy and then the film shifts to a 'five years later' scenario.

It's the story of five friends chasing their dreams and my character believes in power."

Sammir plays a young politician called Jay Gokhale, the youngest MP in his party. "It's a role I have modelled on Congress MP Milind Deora. I even dressed up like him in jeans, T-shirts and kurta-pajamas," he adds.

Does he personally know the young politician? "I know him as he stood for elections from South Mumbai, where I live. And though I have met him on a couple of occasions I don't know him personally.

It was my decision to use him as a role model for this part. I have also used Sachin Pilot, the young MP from Rajasthan, as a reference point. Honestly, if both of them weren't there I would have been limited while playing my role."

The actor plays an intense, brooding loner in the film. "There's also a bit of giddiness that comes in my track, which leads to the use and misuse of power.

That's where my character goes into grey areas. It's different from the boyish roles I have done so far," concludes Sammir.
