Mangalore, April 7: The Christian community of Mangalore city celebrated Easter, the day of resurrection of Jesus Christ after he was crucified, with great joy, by congregating in big numbers on the eve of the feast, viz. late evening on Saturday April 7.

Holy Cross or the Cordel church of Kulshekar, which has the maximum number of Catholic families in the Mangalore Diocese, witnessed a crowd about 5 thousand devotees on Saturday evening. Fr Lawrence D'Souza, parish priest of the church, offered the Mass there.

Almost all the churches in the city were overcrowded with the devotees in the evening.

Hence, for convenience, in majority of the churches, prayers and Masses were offered on the open ground. Holy water was also blessed at this occasion.
