London, Apr 8: A 32-year-old lady doctor died of a cardiac arrest on board a Bangalore-bound British Airways flight on Friday.

Arathi Huchegowda a resident of Basaveshwarnagar in Bangalore, was serving as a doctor in a general hospital in London. According to the police, Dr Arathi and husband Dr Ravichandran (orthopedic surgeon) boarded the BA flight in London at 2.30 pm local time.

They had lunch at 7.30 pm. Soon after, Dr Arathi went to the toilet but did not return even after 15 minutes. Her husband was shocked to find his wife lying inside the toilet unconscious. He, along with five other doctors on board, gave first aid to her. The flight had to make an unscheduled stop at a Syrian airport but doctors at a hospital there declared her brought dead.
 

The body was taken to Bowring Hospital for post-mortem and later cremated at Harischandra Ghat, on Saturday evening.

The arrival of the flight was delayed by three hours due to the incident, the police said.
