Mangalore: Measures to Ease Traffic Congestion near Bunts' Hostel on the Anvil

Mangalore, Apr 9: The Bunts' Hostel Circle area, with approach from PVS circle, Karangalpady and Kadri Road, has been a serious traffic bottleneck in the city for long. The peak hours of office and school going and leaving are a nightmare for motorists and pedestrians in particular and citizens in general.

Now long-term measures are under way to solve the problem. City mayor Vijaya Arun, corporators, officials from the MCC, revenue, police and other departments inspected the spot on Monday, April 9 morning for this purpose.

The following measures have been proposed and are likely to be implemented.

  • The Karangalpady bus stop, currently located opposite the market area (near Leo Furniture) will be shifted to a new location close to St Aloysius High School (near Mahendra Arcade)
  • Signal lights will be installed at the Bunts' Hostel Circle
  • The government land available opposite C V Nayak Hall on Kadri Road will be utilized to build a mini bus stand to accommodate 3 or 4 buses at a time.

These measures are likely to ease the congestion in traffic in the area, providing relief to citizens.
