Dubai: Henry Promises Super 'Katrina' Show at Daiji Dubai Annual Event

Dubai, Apr 10: Henry D'Souza, veteran Konkani composer and singer, known as 'Katrina' Henry, has arrived in Dubai to perform at the Daiji Dubai annual event to be held at Indian Consulate on April 12, 2007 from 7.30pm onwards.

Speaking to daijiworld's Dubai correspondent Ramcy Fernandes at the airport, Henry promised the same spirited, qualitative kind of show which he used to give when he was very young. "True, I am getting old, but, when it comes to singing, especially "Katrina" and "Ami Dogui Sezara", I get inspired and give more than 100%. I am looking forward to this show, which is taking place after a gap of a couple of years."
"Though this is not my full-fledged nite, performing at Daiji Dubai stage is always a matter of honour and prestige for me," he added.
"I am happy that Wilfy Rebimbus will be receiving the Daiji Dubai award this year, and it will be a special moment for me to perform as a singer when Wilfy sits as a guest in the audience, " said the humble, yet down-to-earth Henry D'Souza'
The show comprises of Konkani hit numbers from Henry, Asha Maben, Maxim Pereira, Rony Baindoor, Dony Correa, Asha Correa and others.
Vinod Sequeira's Ocean Kids will present special dance performance and 'Jodi No.1' fame Andrea will also feature in the dance performance.
Veteran musician James Fernandes will direct the music.
Konkani comedy skits with Dayan D'Souza in the lead will be a special attraction.
Wilfy Rebimbus, who is scheduled to arrive in Dubai with his family to perform at the Sentimental Nite being organized by Mangalore Konkans on April 19, 2007 will receive the prestigious Daiji Dubai annual award in person at the show.
Seasoned compere Manohar Pais will take charge of the entertainment event. Walter Nandalike, founder member of Daiji Dubai and founder of Daijiworld.com will compere stage programme which includes award presentation.
Senior Daiji Dubai member Jemma Padil will be accorded a special felicitation in recognition of his outstanding service to the Konkani language and literature.

Daiji Dubai Writers' Forum convener Hemacharya has said that there were hardly any passes left as demand for them was huge as usual.. He has requested the audience to be there well in time, as the show will begin at 7.30 pm sharp.
Hemacharya has also requested the pass-holders to keep in mind the usual traffic congestion in Dubai and resultant hold-up and to reach the venue sufficiently ahead of the show.
