Mangalore, Apr 14: Tulu short film 'Sudda', has been adjudged the best film in the 4th Karnataka Mini film Festival just held in the Amarashree cinema in Moodbidri.
The festival had been organized by Yuva Pratibha Vedike’s coastal unit.
'Sudda' film is based on the Tulu play 'Bojja' play written by Narayan Shetty Nandalike. The film depicts the feudal system which was prevalent in the coastal district in 1960s and 1970s. It also dwells at length on the gradual decline of feudal system in the following years and change of attitude in the society as well as families in this period.
Jayaraj, on behalf of the makers of the movie, received the award at the hands of journalist and actor Shekar Ajekar at the function held at Moodbidri.
Agriculturist-social worker and actor Maldabettu Subhaschandra Padival (who had made a name in the first-made 'Koti Chennaya' Tulu movie, wherein Vaman-Subhas played the legendary duo), SKF group promoter G Ramakrishna Achar, businessman Vivekananda Shenoy Karkala, Shrutanjan of MN Computers and Moodbidri Working Journalists' Union president Belvai Seetaram Achar were guests of honour.
Katapadi Prakash Suvarna, producer of 'Akku' and 'Halli Mane' movies was presented the best debut-making director award, and Sanoor Ganesh Nayak, director of 'Ninada' the best debut-making director award, each of which carried a cash purse of Rs 2,500.
Up-and-coming singer Immi Karkala and music director Rajesh Bhat of Talents Group were also felicitated on the occasion.
Journalist Dhananjaya Moodbidri compered the programme and child hero of 'Ninada' Kishan Puninchittaya proposed a vote of thanks.
