Dubai: Mangalorean Julia Rodrigues Among 'Top of the World'

Dubai, April 15: Three students from the Cambridge International School, Dubai, won ‘Top of the World’ awards for their outstanding results in the most recent Cambridge International Examinations.

Julia Alisone Rodrigues in Year 12 is one among them and obtained the highest marks in the world in the IGCSE English Literature Examination. Hundreds of thousands of students in 175 countries sit for these exams yearly. The award was presented at The HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Cambridge Awards 2006 ceremony held at the Knowledge Village Courtyard, Dubai on 14 March 2007. A Certificate, a Plaque & Cambridge Dictionary was given to the award winners.

Apart from Literature, Julia is pursuing studies in the Science stream with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry & Biology and a top grader in these subjects as well. Music, dancing, reading and playing the piano are Julia’s other interests.

Two years back, Julia’s older sister Joanne too had secured the highest marks in IGCSE English as a First Language examination in the whole of the Cambridge International School, Dubai. Joanne is currently studying in ‘MAHE’ at Manipal doing Journalism & Mass Communications.  Her younger brother Jonathan too is studying in the Cambridge International School, Dubai in Grade 6.

Julia is the second daughter of Joseph & Joyce Rodrigues of Urwa, Mangalore presently residing in the UAE.
