Dubai, April 18: The Sentimental nite organised by Mangalore Konkans Dubai on April 19, at the five-star Hotel Le Meredian is going to create history as a very special Konkani musical evening.

This candle-light dinner event is unique because of the standard of the event. It is also exclusive by being the most expensive when compared to similar Konkani events in the Gulf.

"We wanted to experiment with this kind of a show, as something that would allow families to have a much-needed unwinding in the middle of their stressful life. It would also allow the music-lovers to enjoy the Konkani music with their spouses or partners, and to experience a very special atmosphere," says president of Mangalore Konkans James Mendonca.

"The dinner at Le Meridian itself costs a lot. This is the kind of entertainment for those who would like to enjoy and relax in the company of a limited gathering," he admits.

"We wanted to put up two such shows, one in a five-star ambience and other at a place which could be affordable to everyone. But for technical reasons we could not finalize the second one," he clarifies.

"I am happy that people have responded well to this show, and there is very good demand for invitations. Hope this kind of shows would continue in Konkani," he adds.

The show at Le Merdeian will start at 9.00 pm sharp. Choicest 24 songs from Wilfy Rebimbus' albums have been selected. Wilfy, Meena, Veena, Vishwas, Ivan Sequiera and talented local singers Olivia, Olinda, Rathan and Stany will render memorable sentimental songs.

Manohar Pais, a veteran compere with a rich experience of having handled high-profile programmes of this kind, especially Wilfy Nites, will once again compere the show.

There will be lots of prizes to be won, early bird prizes, surprise gifts and air tickets.

This evening will also feature some rib-tickling comedy from popular local artistes - Dayan D`Souza, Sunita Menezes, Alwyn Pinto, Stany D`Souza, Paul, Valerian Peres and Manohar Pais.

Invitations are sold only to couples. Children below 10 years are not allowed.
