Udupi, Apr 18: Anand Poojary, the prime accused in the Dorothy Cutinho murder case of Kallianpur has been denied bail by District and Sessions Court.
As reported earlier in these columns Anand who was living with Dorothy (60) had strangled her to death on March 1, 2006. Anand had been living in Dorothy's house for almost 15 years and was working there as house servant. However, Anand had murdered her under the impression that he would be able to get all her gold, property and other belongings.
He had planned her murder very well. In this regard he had even obtained a fake medical certificate from a doctor which said that Dorothy had been admitted to hospital for treatment. He had even called Dorothy's brother who is in USA over the phone to inform him about her death.
But the autopsy report gave a major breakthrough as it proved that Dorothy's death was not owing to cardiac attack but owing to strangulation. Upon investigation by Malpe police, Anand had confessed his crime.
Anand's earlier bail plea too had been denied by the local court.
