    Mangalore, Apr 19: The newly-constructed chapel of Sacred Heart of Jesus was inaugurated at Thodambil near here on Thursday April 19.

    Bishop Aloysius D’Souza of Mangalore inaugurated and blessed the new chapel.

    Earlier Bishop was welcomed at Pachhinadka and was taken on procession with brass band to the chapel.

    A stage programme was held later and was presided over by Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza. He honoured all those who have contributed in various ways to the construction of the chapel.

    Former chief minister Veerappa Moily who was chief guest on the occasion released the souvenir ‘Kallza Ganch” and wished all the best to the devotees of the Sacred Heart Chapel.

    All-India Congress committee secretary Capt Praveen Davar, ex-minister B Ramanath Rai, Fr Valerian D’Souza, Episcopal vicar of Udupi, Fr Denis Moras Prabhu, chancellor of Mangalore diocese, Fr Peter Noronha, parish priest of Bendur, Fr Charles Saldanha, parish priest of Bantwal, Richard Monteiro, Modankap parish council vice-president, Fr Arun Lobo, assistant parish priest of Modankap were also present on the dais.

    Fr Rockey D’Sa, parish priest of Modankap and administrator of Thodambil welcomed the gathering. Herald D’Souza proposed vote of thanks while Felix D’Sa and Sunil Lewis compered the programme.
