Dubai, April 19: Konkani sentimental music-loving couple from all parts of the UAE witnessed and got fully involved themselves in one of the most relaxing evenings Dubai has ever seen in recent times.

Mangalore Konkans, as usual, tried to experiment with presenting a special evening exclusively for couples, be they husband and wife, fiancées and fiancés, father and daughter or son and mother or just friends. But it was an evening entirely for couples.

Hundreds of couples were on the floor to dance to Wilfy's sentimental songs at Le Meridian Hotel Dubai. The show kicked off around 9.15 pm with a warm welcome from handsome and dynamic compere of the event Manohar Pais.

'Dubaigarano', a special song dedicated to Dubai residents in particular and UAE residents in general, set the mood for the evening. It was presented by Wilfy and his musical family consisting of Wilfy himself, Meena, Veena, Vishwas and Charleen.

Then it was the turn of James Mendonca, president of Mangalore Konkans, an ever-smiling face, a successful entrepreneur and motivating leader to welcome the gathering with special thanks to sponsors and the couples of the evening.

The main sponsor of the event, Felix Lobo, having flown along with family all the way from Doha for the event, marked the notable point of the evening.

Then on it was a non-stop flow of sentimental songs. Just as everyone expected and had also craved for, 'Mog Tujo Kitlo Axelom' by Wilfy and 'Maria' by Vishwas were undoubtedly super hits of the evening

The Rebimbus family was very well backed up with sentimental singing by Ivan Sequeira who arrived all the way from Mumbai. Local talents and Ratan Castelino, an erstwhile member of Wilfy's now residing in the UAE, and Olinda and Olivia, two lovely twin sisters, who are rarely seen singing in public these days, added real glamour and spice to the show. Another veteran singer and one-time member of Wilfy's troupe Stany D`Souza rendered his favourite 'Roopa'.

Spot prizes and novelty interludes in between the songs kept the crowd engaged and fully involved in the proceedings.

Side-splitting comedy skits by Dayan, Vallu, Sunitha, Alwyn, Paul and Manu created the finest blend to add further entertainment to the show.

Some of the the super hit sentimental songs rendered were 'Diana', 'Mog na Mog Na mhunnun', 'Suryachea Kirnnanim', 'Angelina', 'Chili-pili Suknneano', 'Hanv tujo mog kortam', 'Vanita Vandana Shalini', 'Hanv ietam-go ghatti devon', 'Gulobachea Fantteak', 'Dudhant Dhutom tuje pai', 'Johny Johny', 'Chondrim Aila-re ontrollar', 'Zeena', 'Surio Buddon', 'Mhojea Mona' and others.

The music was provided by Pappan (keyboards), Anwar (saxophone), Joswin (lead guitar), Michael (bass guitar), Jeetu (rhythm pad), and Dinesh (tabla / dholak)'

In a brief stage programme, sponsors of the event were felicitated.

Valerian Peris, former president of Mangalore Konkans, proposed a vote thanks, making a special mention of the coverage given by daijiworld as usual to the event, besides the portal's exclusive media support right from its inception in 2001.

Mangalore Konkans once again proved to be one of the most professional organizers by holding this successful event.

The final fifteen minutes of non-stop baila session provided a fitting finale, starting with slow numbers and ending with a medley of fast hit numbers.
