Bearys Cultural Forum's Chammana- 2007 Draws Huge Crowd

Dubai, April 20: Bearys Cultural Forum under the auspices of the Indian Islamic Centre, Dubai conducted Annual Mega Event – Chammana 2007 at the Radisson Hotel SAS,(Great Zabeel Ball Room) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on 20th April 2007.
`Beary’ is a Muslim community originated from the coastal parts of the state of Karnataka in India. Bearys Cultural Form (BCF) was formed in the United Arab Emirates under the auspices of Dubai Indian Islamic Centre, UAE. BCF’s main objective is to promote, educate and create social, cultural and educational awareness amongst the Bearys in the UAE & India. The BCF conducts regularly cultural, sports, talent search, educational activities, Iftar Party, etc. every year. BCF also provides educational scholarships to the Beary students for pursuing their higher studies in the field of medicines, engineering etc.
The main objective of conducting the Chammana 2007 is to focus on the cultural activities, music, fancy dress, skid, Islamic quiz, Miladunnabi speeches and bearys education and development etc. The event started in the morning and end in the evening.
The Chammana 2007 was presided over by Dr. B.K. Yusuf, and the Chief Guest of Honor was H.E. B.S. Mubaraka, Consul (Labour), Consulate Geenral of India, Dubai. Zafarullah Khan, the Chief Advisor of BCF was the platinum speaker.
B.M. Farookh was conferred with the high-ranking award namely “Bearys Personality Award for the year 2007” for his outstanding contribution to the social and educational welfare of the bearys in India and abroad. B.M. Farookh hails from Surathkal, Mangalore and is the Managing Director of several companies including Fiza Developers and Inter Trade Private Limited, Bangalore. He has participated in several national and international conferences. His immense contribution to the society is witnessed by his presence in several committees at the highest positions such as President, Bearys Welfare Association, Associate Member of All India Management Association, Treasurer of the Indian Wind Power Association, etc. He is also the receipient of the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Urja Diwas Award during 2004 and 2005 conferred by the State of Karnataka. In view of his excellent personality, B.M. Farookh has also been presented with the Prestigious International Bearys Outstanding Personality Award, 2007 by the Bearys Cultural Forum, UAE.

Dr. B.K. Yusuf is the Director of the MEPHA, Switzerland and has been the President of the Bearys Cultural Forum in UAE since its inception. Dr. B.K. Yusuf has contributed to the welfare of the bearys at all points of time. Therefore, he has been conferred with the Bearys Presidential Award, 2007. Similarly, Zafarullah Khan, Chief Advisor of BCF & Managing Director of Zain International Hotel has been conferred with the Platinum Award for 2007 for his incessant philanthropist activities.

More than 700 people attended the function. The function also included Cookery competition for ladies whereby several Beary women participated with relishing dishes. There were Islamic quiz & elocution competition, music, mono acting, drama, songs, etc during Chammana 2007. Overall the function was a great success.
