Mangalore, Apr 21: In a major breakthrough, the Pandeshwar police have successfully nabbed the thieves involved in a theft case that had taken place in the Munishwara Mahaganapati Temple in the Police Lines on March 2.
The police have arrested Shijo Joseph and A H Hasim at Kasargod. During interrogaton, they confessed to the crime. They also revealed the involvement of a certain Shibi in the crime.
The police have seized stolen ornaments worth Rs 2.2 lac from Manodatta of Uppala, to whom the accused had sold the goods off. Shibi is said to have already been arrested by the Kerala police and is currently lodged in Kannur jail.
Another accused Shijo was a juvenile delinquent and had absconded from the Kannur remand home 4 months back. It is also reported that the accused Shibi and Hasim are facing several criminal charges in Kerala state.
Pandeshwar inspector Venkatesh Prasanna, police personnel Sitaram Gowda, Dinesh Bekal, Kumar, Mani, Santosh, Manohar, Balachandra, Venkatesh and driver Raghu managed to arrest the accused, under the guidance of SP B Dayananda and additional SP Lokesh Kumar.
