Mangalore. Apr 23: A cloud of mystery surrounds the death of a 20-year-old Aneesh Shetty, who died in a suspicious manner recently.
Aneesh from Bikarnakattee was pronouced dead en-route to city on Saturday evening last week in the presence of a sole witness, his friend Gautham. On Friday, Aneesh said to be in an inaberiated state had a fatal fall while making a call from an STD booth in Manipal.
Aneesh, who was shifted to a hospital, was ‘discharged on Saturday against medical advice’. Ignoring the word of caution given to him by KMC Hospital at Manipal, he set off to travel back home. On reaching the destination Aneesh was found lying motionless on the seat.
He was shifted to the Wenlock Government Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. Dr Suresh Shetty of the KMC, who conducted the post mortem, refused to divulge details on the cause of death. Manipal Police Inspector S Nayak has still not received the PM report even after four days the student’s death.
Amidst all these developments, Dr Shetty had told Express when contacted that the victim’s viscera had been sent to Regional Forensic Science Laboratory at Mangalore for a detailed report. On the contrary, the lab knew nothing about the viscera.Laboratory head T S Chengappa firmly informed that no viscera was sent to the Lab. ‘‘In fact, we don’t even know about the incident,’’ he said and added there was no communication on the death from Manipal Police or Dr Shetty.
As of now, a case of fatal cocktail drug overdose is being suspected as the cause behind the youth’s death.
