Mangalore, Apr 24: 'Varnasharadhi', a day-long creative session of spot art and sand sculpture was organized on Tannirbavi beach on Sunday by freelance journalist Dinesh Holla and his team. It drew a large number of holiday crowds from 8-30 am to 6 pm.

The name Varnasharadhi was fully justified as it was play of colours by the seaside.

Artist Mohan Sona of Sullia and humour poet Hattikudru Dundiraj, a Corporation Bank official, jointly inaugurated the event with their own respective creations - an artwork and a spot poem.

Vijaya Karnataka Kannada daily's resident editor U K Kumaranath, Karavali College's founder-chairman Ganesh Rao, Karnataka Bank AGM P R S Holla and others were present on the occasion.

Sand scuptures were also created on the occasion by artists  Shrinath Manipal, Venkataramana Palimar, Ravi Hirebettu, Purandar Malpe and others from the Artists' Forum, Udupi.

Over 100 artistes gave a combined contribution of art to a huge canvas painting. Top-notch artist Prashant Shetty from Mumbai impressed everyone with his spot painting of Hanuman.

Daijiworld's cartoonist Harini created spot caricatures of persons present who volunteered sittings.

Giridhar Kamath compered the event. Mimicry artiste Pattabhiram Sullia entertained the crowds.
