Mangalore, Apr 26: It was once again a festive and holy environment as 18 sisters of Ursuline Franciscan congregations professed their final vows in the hands of Mother General Sr Doreene D'Souza in Rosario Cathedral here  on Thursday April 26 morning.

 With these vows of poverty, chastity and obedience these 18 young women came forward willingly to serve God and His people.  The vows mean that they will remain obedient to God and to their superiors, would practice poverty in their lives and would remain chaste.

Sr Rita D’Souza, daughter of Sebastian and Piad D’Souza from Mogarnad, Sr Celine D’Souza, daughter of Anthony and Asumpta D’Souza of Madantyar, Sr Marina Crasta, daughter of Basil and Magdalene of Arwa, Sr Lavina  Leena D’Souza, daughter Jockim and Monthy of Mogarnad, Sr Shanthi Wilma D’Almeida, daughter of Philiph and Eliza of Naganhalli in Mysore, Sr Selvi of Mysore province, Sr Cynthia Rego, daughter of Grgory and Benedicta of Ferrar, Sr Gracy Joyce Monteiro, daughter of Stella and the late Leo from Fajir, Sr Veronica V S, daughter of V L Sebastian and Philomena of Suntikoppa, Sr Sheila Shanthi Miranada, daughter of Duming and Angeline of Samshi in Karwar, Sr Divya Lopez, daughter of Peter and Cossess of Hadinbal, Sr Nirmala Rodrigues, daughter of the late Ignatius and Santhan of Molkod in Karwar, Sr Lavina Jyothi D’Souza, daughter of Charles and Eugene  of Ammembal, Sr Milagres Horta, daughter of Sebastian and Magdalene from Uppar Kasarkod, Sr Anita D’Souza, daughter of Jeffry and Rita from Hirebail in Chikamagalur, Sr Sunita, daughter of James and Carmine from Kayyar, Sr Violet Pinto, daughter of Hilda and the late Valerian Pinto from Bankal in Chikamagalur and Sr Renita Maria D’Souza, daughter of Philiph and Marceline of Fajir pronounced their final commitment.

Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza of Mangalore who celebrated the Holy Eucharist exhorted the newly-professed to remain faithful to their commitment and to grow in reaching out to the needy and poor.

A large number of priests, religious brothers and sisters partook in the Solemn Holy Eucharist along with family members, relatives and near and dear ones of professed nuns.

The smiling faces of the newly-professed clearly were the indication as how happy were they on this day for which they have prepared for so many years.
