New Delhi, Apr 30: The Gujarat government on Monday admitted in the Supreme Court that Kausar Bi was killed and burnt by the state police a few days after her husband, Soharabuddin Sheikh, had been killed in a fake encounter.
The counsel for the Gujarat government told the apex court that the revelations came after the interrogation of the three IPS officials arrested in connection with the case.
A hunt for Kausar Bai’s remains was on, the counsel added.
Sohrabuddin, an alleged extortionist, was killed in an encounter in November 2005. Last month, the state government admitted in the Supreme Court that it was a fake encounter.
This was followed by the arrest of three IPS officers, including the then chief of the ATS D G Vanjara.
