Sehore, Madhya Pradesh, May 3: Three girls fainted and many others were injured after terrified students of a high school near here claimed to have sighted a ghost.

The students of a government girls high school in Doraha town claimed of seeing a 'ghost' when they were appearing for a test on Monday, police said on Tuesday.

"Commotion broke out after one of the girls claimed hearing 'weird' noises and seeing a 'ghost wearing a red sari', before she fainted while rushing out of the room on Monday," Sub-Divisional Officer of Police Vinay Pal said.

He, along with other senior officials, was probing the incident.

Two other girls also fainted as scared and screaming students ran out, Pal said, adding that three girls sustained injuries and were rushed to a hospital.

Invigilators Nirmala Shukla and Bunti Botham also claimed to have heard the 'weird' noises before the girls panicked.

Following the incident, the science examination for classes 6 and 7 were suspended till further notification, District Education Officer RP Sen said.

Meanwhile, school Principal Veena Choudhary requested her seniors to close down the classroom as similar incidents had been reported in the past too.
