Puducherry, May 4: Local administration and tourism minister Malladi Krishna Rao on Friday said he would leave for Delhi next week to meet President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam and request him to visit Yanam to perform the bhoomi pooja for a model of the Eiffel tower there.

The model, being built by Reliance, would highlight the French connection of the union territory, he told reporters at his chamber.

Rao said he would also meet the Prime Minister, the union Home Minister and Tourism minister to discuss with them the developmental plans relating to Yanam.

Rao has been elected from Yanam.

He also said that he had requested Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y Rajasekhara Reddy to make available a one acre site on Tirumala to enable the Puducherry government construct a guest house there, which would be funded by the Puducherry government

He said that the next meeting of the TTD Board would discuss the request.

Earlier, the minister had a check up at the general hospital after complaining of some abdominal pain. He said he was now feeling all right.
