Mumbai, May 11: After their war of statements, Kingfisher Airlines chairman Vijay Mallya and Air Deccan Managing Director G R Gopinath appeared on the same platform, exchanging banter and sweets while wishing each other luck.

Gopinath, who appeared a little harsh on Mallya's stated intention to acquire a stake in Air Deccan, attended Kingfisher's second anniversary celebrations here on Wednesday night.

"We are friends," he said, offering a sweet to Mallya.

Mallya said the media had blown out of context his remarks on Air Deccan, which he said was doing well with an 18 per cent share of the market. His airline was also doing well with an 11 per cent share of the full service market, he remarked.

"Why should I take over Air Deccan?" he said, adding with a chuckle, "We are totally different".

In a sharp reaction, Gopinath had recently asked Mallya to restrict himself to running his own airline instead of talking about Air Deccan.
