Gurgaon, July 9 (IANS): BMW India reiterated its commitment to increase manufacturing localisation by up to 50 percent, while announcing new prices for its Indian made cars on Thursday.
"The future belongs to India. If you want to benefit from the dynamics of the Indian market, you need to act today. We have created a win-win situation for our customers with a wide range of exclusive authentic luxury products and now equally attractive value proposition with 'Make in India'," said Philipp Von Sahr, president, BMW India.
BMW India produces eight car models locally on two assembly lines at its Chennai plant, a statement issued here said.
The Indian manufactured car models are BMW 1 Series, BMW 3 Series, BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo, BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series, BMW X1, BMW X3 and BMW X5.
The German auto giant sources engines and transmissions from Force Motors, axles from ZF Hero Chassis, door panels and wiring harness from Draexlmaier India, exhaust systems from Tenneco Automotive India, heating, ventilating, air-conditioning and cooling modules from Valeo India and Mahle Behr and seats from Lear India.
BMW Chennai plant is operating since March 29, 2007.
