Chittagong, May 15: India suffered a jolt ahead of the Test series against Bangladesh as S Sreesanth was ruled out of the two-Test cricket series and will return home following a left-calf injury.

Left-arm seamer R P Singh, who was a member of the one-day squad, has been asked to stay back for the Test series starting here on May 18.

Sreesanth, who did not play the second ODI and did not feature in Tuesday's starting line-up as well due to a sore calf, was found unfit after team physio John Gloster assessed his condition.

"Sreesanth is living in a day or two. R P Singh who was scheduled to leave after the ODI series has been asked to stay back for the two Tests," Administrative Manager of the team Surendra Bhave informed.

He said team physio John Gloster has assessed his condition and found him unfit.

"Gloster assessed his condition and found him unfit. He will leave in a couple of days depending on the availability of ticket," he said.

"Following his fitness test today there are some areas of his recovery that are still not complete. Despite the best efforts at treatment of his injury he will not be 100 per cent fit for the start of the first Test," BCCI said in a release in Mumbai.

"He will continue to require treatment for this soft tissue injury for another seven days as per the report of Indian Team Physio," the release said.

Rookie Bengal batsman Manoj Tiwary earlier had his dreams of making India debut spoilt after he returned home without playing a single match following a shoulder injury during fielding practice.
