Dubai, May 26: After the grand success of the 3rd annual day celebrations on 15th December 2006 UAE Amchigele Samaj, an organization of Gowd Saraswat and Saraswat Konkani speaking people, celebrated its 2nd Talent Day on 25th May 2007 at the Indian Consulate Hall, Dubai.

According to the secretary of the Amchigele Samaj, Shailesh Shenoy, “We received more than 100 entries initially with many contestants wanting to take part in two different competitions, but owing to time constraints we had to limit the participation to only one entry per contestant. In fact for the next time we will ask our members if they would like to have this event as a full day event and if the majority wants it so, then we may have the next Talent Day combined for children and adults as a full day event with a break in the afternoon for people to go home and have a siesta. For this year we are planning to have a full fledged Talent Day for adults in the first week of November 2007.”

The program started with a Bharat Natyam dance recital by Rakshita Shenoy. Shailesh Shenoy, the Secretary of the Samaj, then introduced the judges and anchored the entire show.

The judges for the show were Lakshminarayan Murthy, Narayan, Visalakshi Shankar and Harish Pai. The categories in which the competitions for the children were held were Fancy Dress, Shloka recitation, Story Telling, Singing and Elocution. Karaoke singing competitions were held for male and female under the adult category.

The 250 strong audience enjoyed the performances of the children who showed great confidence in coming up on the stage and performing without even a trace of nervousness. The youngest contestant was the one year old Ritika Nayak. Mr.Vasudeo Kamath enthralled the audience with his Karaoke singing and Sunil Shenoy & Srikant Mallya gave a sterling cameo performance with Srikanth singing in a female voice. Raghvendra Nayak gave a preview to the audience of the ‘Chaar Ghadi Hassoon Kaadhi’, a laughter challenge competition to be held at the proposed Adult Talent Day competitions to be held later this year in November.

Shailesh Shenoy and Aruna Kamath along with Ajit Nayak, Mahesh Prabhu and Sunil Shenoy co-ordinated the event.

The President of the Samaj, Subash Shanbhogue, addressed the audience and lauded the parents for encouraging their children to take part in such competitions. The judges also appreciated the efforts put in by the managing committee for organizing such an event. Ramchandra Hegde, the Vice President of the Samaj, proposed the vote of thanks.
