New Delhi, May 28:
Noted film producer and acclaimed filmmaker Mani Ratnam's brother G Srinivasan died in a tragic accident while he was trekking in a tourist resort in Manali along with his wife and elder daughter on Sunday. The incident occurred at about 12:00 pm, IST.

Srinivasan had produced many of the popular films directed by Mani Ratnam, including Iruvar (1997), Yuva (2002), Guru (2007) and Kannathinmuthanittal (2002).

According to reports reaching here, Srinivasan slipped and fell into a 100-foot-deep gorge. He was 49 and is survived by his wife Sandhya and three daughters, Shreya (18) and twins Divya and Akshya (15).

Sandhya is the sister of renowned film producer G Venkateswaran, who had committed suicide a couple of years ago.

According to family and film industry sources, the Srinivasan family was holidaying in Manali for the last one week. The body was later retrieved by the officials. He was scheduled to return to Chennai on Monday.

His body would be flown to Chennai from Manali on Monday for last rites.
