Undertrial's filmi escape

An undertrial who was in the prisoners' cell of the Wenlock Hospital here escaped during the supper. Masood (22), a resident of Magundi near N R Pura in Chikmagalur who was had been in connection with a theft case is the daring offender, who was facing charges of theft from a doctor's house at Nellyadi. He was in the sub-jail here for few months now.  For symptoms of malaria he was admitted to the hospital recently.

We have watched in movies the  thieves - most of the cases it could be heroes themselves - escape from the jails or hospitals once they are admitted. But never had thought of such things happening in Mangalore until some years ago. But it is heard very often. Undertrials feigning illness get admitted to hospitals fro better comforts as also to lexplore the ways to freedom.

This is clearly proof enough how the present-day could influence yougsters. Today in this modern world, teenagers and others  try to imitate the celebrities in their day-to-day life activities, and imagine themselves in the heroes' shoes. Hence they tend to imitate whatever the hero does in the films. Thouigh the hero in the real world lives a decent life, people in their real life try to ape the make-believe lifestyle of the heroes.

NH 17 - an accident track ?

National Highway 17 seems to be never-endingly witnessing fatal accidents that have claimed innumerable lives in the recent past. A lorry carrying a crane from Hubli rammed into an electric pole by the roadside and a bullet tanker made its way into a roadside shop at Pangla.

On the other hand a passenger van plying from Guttigar to Sullia went out of control of its driver on a minor bridge and rolled over into a gorge. The passengers were made of visitors to downtown on daily routine, parents seeking admission for their children in schools, those visiting relatives and many others. In all, over 50 were said to have been travelling in the van.

While no one can ever easily forget the accident of Muloor that proved fatal for 17 persons, minor accidents are not noticed by anyone.  Some of them even say that only when one or two are killed, it could be called as accident.  Otherwise it is just a mishap. This is quite true. No one even cares for minor accidents. If we really start counting minor accidents that take place only between Udupi- Mangalore, then just in 15 days the number may exeed more than 1000. But who cares to these small accidents. Only if more than two lives are lost in an accident, then they will make a big issue out of it. And as already stated earlier the main cause of accident is the smooth roads which tends the drivers to run their vehicles recklessly. The other reason is the case of overloading. Most of them have the habit of over loading the passenger in the vehicle more than the actual capacity.

Bright Students Of Udupi, Mangalore Districts

For the first time in the history of Dakshina Kannada district 9 students trained in the first batch of IIT-JEE training programme at MICE here have been in IIT-JEE 2007. MICE had trained 19 students in its first batch. The training was for 2 years consisting of 1400 hours of class room training/tests and mock exams.

The students Of Dakshina Kannada districts as well as udupi districts have made the city proud. Recantly we read that dakshina Kannda disrtict stood first, with regard to the PUC results and Udupi stood second with regard to the 10th standard results. As well as in CET the Mangalorean students backed up good ranks. The students have not only made their parents proud but also the lecturers/teachers, colleges/scholls, coaching classes in which they have studied proud. The hard work of students  and efforts of their parents, lecturers/teachers are the main reason for their success. the main reason is there is lots of competition among colleges, coaching classes and among parents to. The world itself as become competitive. Even majority of the students' parents are educated,  hence they spend most of their time concentrating more on their children's education. As a result most of the students get good marks.

Konkani as Optional Language Now in Schools

For the first time in the history of Konkani, all Konkani buffs had something great to cheer about.  Yes! With the commencing of the new academic year, Konkani too has made its way into schools as optional language.  Following the government order dated March 13, 2007, Konkani will be taught as optional language in Karnataka schools from this academic year.

Konkani is now gaining popularity and is creating an identity for itself in schools of karnataka. This language which was commomly spoken only by catholics and GSBs is now being teached in schools as well as an optional language. So students interested to learn konkani can opt this language. catholic youngsters speak in English and Konkanni was going off air  being it their mother tongue. with introduction of konkani as optional language in schools they have done a good job indeed. Even the bishop is working hard for the existence of this language by making catechism compulsory in all churches for the students of 1st to 10th standard. In this way the konkani language will never be forgotten in the coming years and will exist forever.

Thieves with Creative Thoughts

Five people who had raided a jeweler in the guise of income tax officers earlier this week were caught by the Brahmavar police recently.Bhaskar Acharya, a jeweler of Perdoor here had been cheated by the fraud income tax officers who demanded Rs 50,000 from him and threatened to seize all the jewellery.

We come across similar incidents in our day-to-day experiences. Many people cheat others so easily that other person does not even realises or becomes aware about it. Sometimes even we get cheated unknowingly. We find people with creative ideas or find many brave people, but they use their ideas for bad work for which the nation goes against them.We find most of the criminals with creative ideas who creatively and boldly attempt for such crime.  Instead if they use their creativity for some better work then it would help the country from the point of view of development.

Union Minister For Labour Visits People Injured in Roadcrash

Union minister of state for labour Oscar Fernandes visited the Hitech Hospital and enquired after the health of the persons who were injured in the Muloor roadcrash in Udupi district.

Union minister of state for labor visited the Hitech Hospital and enquired the health of the persons injured in the muloor roadcrash. He also said he would try to see that the relatives of the deceased would get compensation from the government. Rarely we find such people who help others at the time of difficulties.

But on the other hand what is the use of the visit at this stage. If the government wishes they can surely avoid such incidents, which will ruin life of several people. The government together with the police and the RTO should implement new traffic rules. Or they should fine such drivers who drive carelessly or drive with very high speed. Only when they are fined they will drive slowly. This will help in avoiding accidents.

Election Time- Leaders With Great Promises

It was time of election. Each party leaders blamed other leaders during their visit to the city and while campaigning took place. Chief minister H D Kumaraswamy said that he is not answerable to any of Congress leaders but only to voters over handing over his post to BJP after the completion of 20 months. Former chief minister M Veerappa Moily flayed chief minisiter H D Kumaraswamy for stating that Dakshina Kannada district was prone to violence. BJP state president D V Sadanand Gowda flayed Congress party’s methods of campaigning.

Gowda alleged that Congress has been indulging in false propaganda by misguiding the public by spreading rumours of change in date of elections and irregular distribution of voter slips. All these party leaders alleged these statements in a press conference.

This clearly shows that  in order to seek votes from the public, the leaders would make any statement against any members of the party or against any party. This also shows that how the party leaders used the media for propaganda. The same party leaders addressed the meet twice just to criticize other parties. When the election times are nearing politicians usually render services to the public. They make false promises about providing water facility, electricity, road facility and so on to the poor villagers. Finally after they win they end up doing nothing. They do not even keep their single word. This time while campaining for Ullal by-polls, leaders of each party criticized other party leader.
