Kundapur, Aug 5: In a tragic accident which occurred a Tekkatte in the taluk, a bike rider lost his life, after being hit from behind by a ten-wheeler truck and then getting crushed under its wheels. The accident occurred on the night of Tuesday August 4.

The deceased bike rider has been identified as Roopesh Bhandary (25). He used to operate a hair dressing salon titled 'Nishal Hairdressers' at Tekkatte.

Roopesh was returning home from Tekkatte after business hours, when a big truck that was moving towards the town from the direction of Udupi knocked him down from the rear side. It also dragged him along with the two-wheeler for some distance.

Because of the impact of the accident, the bike rider had got entangled in the wheels of the truck. The locals had to put in some efforts to release him from the wheels and then transport him to hospital. Although an ambulance of Tekatte Friends was used to take him into the hospital, he breathed his last on the way.

The deceased was unmarried. He has left behind his parents and a sister. A case stands registered in Kota police station in this connection.

My intention was not to criticize the bikers. I know very well heavy vehicle drivers (bus or trucks) are ruthless and wreck less on the roads. In the meantime even young boys always fly in their bikes some even do stunts inviting dangers to their life.
What I meant say that, if allowed to have a separate lane only for the bikers (which is next to possible) they would misuse such facility to race without any hurdles. That may add to the existing problems.
I have personal experience(s) sitting in the bike who any given time used to have thrills/stunts to impress someone and one day we got the lesson of life. Thank God both of us were saved with minor injuries.

Unless one who put sudden breaks in front, one who hits from back is the 100% wrong and held liable for the accident. It is the international law.But in India police twist everything in FIR. In this case truck driver must be serverly punished.

Before you post your comments, do peruse the news item carefully. The ten-wheeler truck rammed into the rear of Roopesh Bhandary's bike. Therefore while it is true that for the most part bikers are both rash and negligent, we have absolutely no evidence that the late Roopesh was the same. In the light of that your statement sounds both flippant and callous.

"If they don't have bread, let them eat cake" was said by Marie Antoinette. It seems you too are repeating her statement. Do you expect all bike riders, cyclists etc to give it up and buy a Rolls Royce?

Why Kundapur having every day accidents? Is it road problems, rash driving, or present motor bike not suitable for our roads?
All accidents of Motor bike are hitting behind by heavy vehicles! Checking must required for kundapur roads.

Yet another young person dying a tragic death in a bike accident. When will these killer trucks, lorries & buses be taken to task? Some day soon if RTO starts suspending these drivers' Driving licenses we may have less of these accidents.
Also bikers' speed is a matter of concern, which may need to be regulated.!! I am not sure n how that will be taken care of.!!

Separate lane only for bikers to race and do stunts!
Let them provide proper footpaths for pedestrians safety and convenience.

    @Flavian,mangalore,/Kuwait,

as a woman I Need not tell you it is not the bikers or roads mistake ,but it is racing buses.Just think when a bike is in front of course have to go in a Speed ,and a truck is from behind hitting him and putting him under ,crashing, not in a state to put break means how fast was trucks Speed. How fast should a truck is allowed?can you remember ?At present a separate road for only for racing buses and trucks is very very important.I dont think he was doing Stunts after a days work as you think .But I see nowhere your sympathy to the Soul of a Young Person met with accident without any mistake.

At least have some sympathy to the Family.

May his Soul rest in peace.and heartfelt sympathy to the Family .

We should push to authorities to have a separate lane for using the bikes. It will not be too difficult but this is must to stop these accidents.

Tragedy after tragedy involving bike accidents in Kundapu/Udupi and elsewhere.

I used to ride two wheeler those days but today it sends shock in my heart when I think of a two wheeler. Vehicles are increased and some drivers are so wreck less and are least bothered about others life. It sounds like no guarantee when you start your journey.
