Bantwal, Jun 5: Vittal police have arrested two persons for possessing counterfeit currency at Saradka near here on Monday June 5.
The arrested have been identified as C T Abdul Latif (36) of Kasargod and Satish Shetty (42) of Mangalore. They were travelling on a Maruti Zen car when police intercepted their car at Saradka check-post on sure information.
Police seized 8 notes of Rs 500 denomination from them. Though the source of the counterfeit currency is not yet known, police said that the accused were trying to use these fake notes in hawala transaction.
The Vittal police have registered a case in this regard.
