Mangalore, Jun 9: Guests at the World Environment Day programme held on Friday June 8 at Pilikula here were welcomed with a rare and shocking sight.
A 16-foot long King Cobra by herpetologist Ashok and his son which he had caught in Moodbidri. Ashok said that the snake is a rare yellow and brown King Cobra and is venomous.
He shared his experience in catching snake and said that he was not trained in any training centre but learnt it by practice. He also said that during the practice he was bitten twice by the venomous snake.
He further said that catching snakes was hobby and offered to help people by catching snakes in thier vicinities and leaving them in the forest.
District commissioner Maheshwar Rao and managing director of KPTCL Bharathlal Meena were present.
