Patna, Aug21 (India Today) : Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Yadav is one politician who has inspired a generation of mimicry artists with his comic timing while taking dig at his political rivals.
After tickling the funny bones of many mimicking PM Narendra Modi earlier this week, the former Bihar chief minister has now targeted BJP president Amit Shah.
Shah and three other BJP leaders were trapped inside a lift of the state guest house in Patna for around 40 minutes on Thursday. The incident triggered a blame game between the BJP and Nitish Kumar government. However, Lalu Prasad blamed Shah for the incident.
"A man as fat as Amit Shah shouldn't have entered the lift. Lifts in Bihar are small and not made to carry such fat people," Lalu Yadav told reporters in Patna.
Shah was ultimately rescued by CRPF personnel who were present as part of his Z security cover. They had to tear apart steel doors of the elevator to pull out the BJP president and other leaders trapped inside.
Shah left for New Delhi by flight on Friday morning. Slamming the Nitish government for the incident, senior BJP leader CP Thakur said "conspiracy" cannot be ruled out.
"Rivals keep speaking ill against BJP and its chief throughout the day. Conspiracy cannot be ruled out in the incident," Thakur said.
This is not for the first time that opposition leaders have mocked Amit Shah for his plus size. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had advised Shah to practice yoga regularly. The statement had come ahead of the much publicised International Yoga Day on June 21.
"Has he seen his body whether it is suitable to do yoga? He should practise yoga silently at home everyday to stay fit. This will bring internal change in him too," Kumar had said
