Mumbai, Jun 18: The devotees of Lord Ganesha, visiting Siddhivinayak temple in Central Mumbai will not be allowed to offer flowers, garlands and coconuts, as a precautionary measures for the temple’s safety which is in the terrorist’s hit list, police said.
Siddhivinayak temple, which figures on the terrorists’ hit list, already has a bullet proof wall surrounding it and “now we have requested the devotees not to offer big flower garlands and coconuts to Lord Ganesh. This is just a precautionary measure for the safety of the devotees and the temple,” Dadar police told PTI on Monday.
The Chief executive of the temple Hanumanta Jagtap told PTI that “we have been told by the police not to accept big garlands and coconuts as offering from the devotees.”
Asked whether there was any fresh threat to the temple, “I do not know. You have to ask the police,” he said.
However, the police did not elaborate much and only said that it was a precautionary measure.
