Panaji, Jun 19: Goa governor S C J amir will present achievement awards for meritorious services in respective fields for ex-NCC Cadets at a function to be held at Kala Academy, Black Box, Panaji Goa at 4.00 pm on June 30, 2007.

The awards are being given in the categories such as politics, medicine, education, journalism, sports, police, law, executives, fashion designing and special achiever award. There are also social service awards, which will be presented to persons other than ex-NCC cadets for their social work.

Those selected for “The Navhind Times” Achievement awards for Meritorious services in respective fields for ex-NCC Cadets are:

Shripad Y Naik, Lok Sabha member (Politics)
Dr Nitish Kerkar - Margao (Medicine)
Vijay Kalangutkar, DGM Navhind Publications (Executive)
Dr Jayant Shivaji Budkuley (Education)
Vithaldas Hegde, chief reporter, Gomantak Times (Journalism)
Dr Susana de Souza (Sports)
Mahesh Gaonkar DySP.(Police)
Verma D’Mello, fashion designer (Fashion)
Navin Acharya, “Ruchi” Special achiever award

Besides these awards two “MRF” awards will be presented to persons other than ex-NCC Ccadets doing social service. They are Leena Prabhu for working for the cause of Blind children and Prince Aaron Golden for running an orphanage.

The awards were finalized by an independent three-member committee headed Dr Damodar Bhonsule, former advisory committee member, NCC, government of Goa.
