Mumbai, Jun.18: Omdas Kannangar, honorary chief secretary has emerged victorious at the elections held for organizing committee of Karnataka Sangh Mumbai as his group won majority of seats on Sunday June 17 at Vishweshwarayya auditorium here.

The elections were held for four ordinary posts and one reserved for women post, of organizing committee. 

It was for the first time in the history of the Sangh that 655 voters out of the total 3,000 voters had turned out to poll.  Among the 655 votes, 22 were invalid.

Among the supporters of Omdas Kannangar, Susheela Devadiga (503) secured maximum votes in women division.  N B Nidwannaya (483), Vivek Shanbagh (477), Omdas Kannangar (475) and Pushparaj Rai (471) were victorious in ordinary division. 

In the opponent group, advocate Subhash Shetty (161), Umesh N Shetty (147), Sitaram Shetty (138), Harish Kumar M Shetty (135) and Thara Maipady (144) for reserved women post, suffered defeat.

The election was held under tight security and in the midst of rains.  The elections for organizing committee of Karnataka Sangh was held after a lapse of many years while the results surprised who worked for the elections.
