Mega petrochemicals, plastics, packaging, printing expo in 2016

New Delhi, Aug 25 (IANS): All India Plastics Industry Association (AIPIA) and Dubai-based trade fair organizer Verifair have teamed up to organise India's first petrochemicals, plastics, packaging and printing (P4) Expo in April next year at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, an official statement said on Tuesday.

"This - P4 Expo India 2016 - is being held at an important time for our economy in conformity with the Make in India - programme of our prime minister. With a high level of international participation, I am sure, it will help the industry here in India to grow, prosper and excel," said Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Hansraj Ahir in the statement.

According to the statement, chemical and petrochemicals industries are expected to touch $200 billion turnover by 2020 while plastics, packaging and printing are expected to grow by $80 billion.

Global P4 giants are expected to participate in the expo which will host country pavilions from China, South Korea, Taiwan, the European Union, Iran, Turkey, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

"Growth in polymer industry always outpaces the GDP in India, example, from the year 2005 to 2012 the average GDP growth was 8.5 percent, whereas the polymer growth was about 11 percent," said Ahir.

AIPIA, incorporated in 1982, is the leading industry association for small scale and medium scale plastic processing units.
