Health cards for 5 crore people in Rajasthan

Jaipur, Aug 26 (IANS): The Rajasthan government on Tuesday decided to issue health cards to five crore people in the state.

The decision was taken at the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.

"During the cabinet meeting, we decided to launch the Arogya Rajasthan Abhiyan (campaign for healthy Rajasthan) from December this year to March 2016," Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rajendra Singh Rathore said at a press conference.

He said 48,000 health workers would collect health-related information of about five crore people by visiting about one crore households from September 15 to October 31.

An online database of this information would be prepared, which would be utilised for the innovative health insurance scheme to be launched in the state.

However, he did not give details on the health insurance scheme.

The cabinet also decided to form the Rajasthan Energy Development Corporation Limited to ensure availability of low-priced and quality electricity supply in the state.

"It was also decided to hold the next session of the Rajasthan assembly in the second week of September. Ordinances promulgated after the budget session would be passed as acts during this session. The session is likely to be of a week's duration," he said.
