Puttur, Sep 6: A man was assaulted for allegedly trying to 'hire' a woman at Ishwaramangala here on Saturday September 5.
The man's identity is not known, but he is said to be from Kerala.
It is said that the man had come to a poultry farm in Ishwarmangala to buy chicken, and pointing at a woman who worked there, allegedly enquired from some people whether she would go with him if he paid her Rs 500.
The locals who were outraged at his audacity chased him away.
However, on September 5, he came to the farm again and pointing at the same woman, asked a boy if he would 'set him up' with her for Rs 1,000.
To his bad luck, the boy happened to be the woman's son!
The boy immediately informed the locals and his mother who gathered at the spot and caughte hold of the man.
He was tied, beaten up and finally chased out of the area.
No case has been registered.
