Kundapur, Jun 20: A tragic incident occurred on Thursday at Jambehadi in Jaddinagadde, Amasibailu village, where a young woman accidentally slipped and fell into the Kindi dam water while returning home after collecting fodder for cattle.
The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Mookambika, the youngest of eight children of Sanjeev Naik and Narsi from Jaddinagadde’s Jambehadi.
Mookambika was employed at a petrol bunk in Amasibailu and was on the afternoon shift. In the morning, she had gone with her sister-in-law Ashwini to collect grass for cattle. While returning, Ashwini, carrying a bundle of fodder, walked ahead towards the house, followed by Mookambika. When Ashwini reached home and noticed that Mookambika had not arrived, she called out for her and went back towards the estate to look for her.

Taking an alternate route through the Jambehadi path, Ashwini searched for Mookambika and found a sickle used for cutting grass lying on the dam bund. Alarmed, she cried out for help. Family members rushed to the spot and found Mookambika's body in the dam.
It is reported that while Ashwini had crossed the stream from the lower side of the dam, Mookambika took the upper path along the bund. Unfortunately, she lost her footing and slipped into the water.
A post-mortem was conducted at the Shankarnarayana Primary Health Centre.
Kundapur tahsildar Pradeep Kurdekar, Amasibailu SI Ashok Kumar, Amasibailu village accountant Chandrashekhara Murthy, PDO Swaminath, and gram panchayat member Chandra Shetty visited the spot. MLA Kiran Kumar Kodgi also visited Mookambika's home and offered condolences to the grieving family.
Mookambika’s mother, Narsi, has filed a complaint with the police. A case has been registered at the Amasibailu police station.
She is survived by her parents, six sisters, and a brother.
