Mangaluru, Sep 10: A man was brutally attacked by three miscreants at Chembugudde under Ullal police station limits on Thursday September 10.
Lancy D'Souza (32), a resident of Pandith House, Santoshnagar in Ullal was on his way home from work when he was attacked.
It is said that Lancy, who does welding work, was on his way home when a Swift car followed his scooter and hit him. As Lancy fell off from the scooter, three men emerged out of the car and brutally assaulted him with machetes. They then fled from the spot leaving the car behind.
A critically injured Lancy was admitted to a private hospital.
Upon inspection, machetes and sickles were found in the car and at the spot.
The motive behind the attack and the identities of the assailants are not yet known. However, it is learnt that Lancy is an accused in the murder of HJV activist Yathish Poojary in 2004. Lancy had been arrested in the case and only two weeks back he got out on bail. It is suspected that the attack may be connected to this case.
Ullal police have registered a case and investigation is on.
