Monthi Fest: Aberdeen, Scotland

Aberdeen, Sep 14: Konkans living in Aberdeen celebrated ‘Monthi Festh’ on September 12 at St Francis of Assisi Church, Mannofield, Aberdeen.

Canon Barry celebrated the holy mass. All sang melodious Konkani hymns led by Ashwitha Baretto. The congregation proceeded to hall in procession singing ‘Sakkod Sangatha Melyan’.

Fr Barry blessed the new corn and children showered flowers. Sr Moira along with other 3 sisters of the convent cut the cake while everyone sang happy birthday to Mother Mary.

Dr Maxim D’Costa compered the event, and organised vegetable auction which raised Rs 60,000 for charity.

All gathered enjoyed vegetarian meal which included delicacies like ‘Pathrode’ and ‘vorn’. Wilson conducted the game of Housie-housie.

Juliana D’Costa organised the whole event which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
