Jul 7: The South Indian Artistes Association (SIAA) is in a celebratory mood these days. Rightly so.
The celebration is to mark the 75th anniversary of Tamil cinema. And the Association is planning a grand celebration with a series of star nites.
The first of the star nites, the grapevine says, will be held in Singapore on August 11, 2007.
And gracing the function will be the highest paid actor on Indian screen, Rajnikant and his rival on reel life, Kamal Haasan , among others.
The Association is engaged in efforts to pull off another coup: to get Bollywood Shahenshah Amitabh Bachchan to be the chief guest on the occasion.
The mega function, which will be managed by Radaan Mediaworks, will feature a cultural programme as well.
The Association is also trying to ensure that major stars from other language cinemas also attend the show to make it a well and truly star-studded affair.
As part of the celebratory programme, another star night is likely to be held in San Francisco in October this year, says the buzz from Kollywood.
