Kolkata, Sep 18 (IANS): West Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra on Friday expressed disappointment over the state's low ranking in the World Bank's study on Ease of Doing Business Survey 2015.

With the state bagging the 11th spot, Mitra said he needs to look into the methodology of the study.

"Myself being a student of economics, I would like to see the methodology and how it (the study) was conducted. Many a times, many issues have come up and I believe our state should have ranked better," he told mediapersons here on the sidelines of an event organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce.

Asked if West Bengal should have ranked better, he said: "I need to see the methodology first."

He questioned the ranking figure while citing the state receiving an award from the central government.

"We have received an award from the central government over the financial reforms we had undertaken and have been ranked number one (in the country) in fiscal reforms," he said.

The World Bank report assesses the implementation status of a 98-point reforms plan across eight areas - setting up a business, allotment of land and obtaining construction permit, complying with environment procedures, complying with labour regulations, obtaining infrastructure related utilities, registering and complying with tax procedures, carrying out inspections and enforcing contracts.
