New Delhi, Jul 9: Former captain Kapil Dev has dared the BCCI to sack him from the Chairman's post at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for his alignment with the rebel Indian Cricket League.

Kapil earned the Board's wrath by joining Essel Group's ICL as the Chairman of its Executive Board and the BCCI, in its recent Working Committee meeting, decided that no individual would be allowed to be with both the parties at the same time.

BCCI shot a letter to Kapil asking him not to align with the ICL, but the former all-rounder was unperturbed.

"I have already sent my reply to them," Kapil told 'Aaj Tak' channel. "They can remove me from the NCA if they want to," said a nonchalant Kapil.

"They only wanted me to contribute to the game of cricket, and when I am doing so they cannot challenge me. If I can do something for the game and the young cricketers through the Indian Cricket League, I will not budge," he asserted.

Recently, former stumper and ex-chairman of the Selection Committee, Kiran More, resigned from the secretary's post at the Baroda Cricket Association to join the ICL board.

Kapil was also aghast at the BCCI decision to stop pension to former players who align with the ICL.

"I did not go to them asking for pension, and if they want to stop it, what can I do? Let them stop it," said the country's lone World Cup–winning captain.

Asked if he should have asked for BCCI permission before joining ICL, Kapil said, "I don't need to ask the BCCI for every small thing."

Kapil was clueless as to what made BCCI see a potential rival in the ICL and target those associated with the league.

"Why do they see ICL as a parallel or rebel body? The BCCI is trying to promote the game in India and if somebody else is pumping in more money why is it a problem with them?

"This league can only help the BCCI. This can help Indian cricket and shape so many careers. What is BCCI's problem?" he asked.

BCCI secretary, Niranjan Shah, however, made it clear that former players like Kapil would have to make a choice.

"We have decided not to recognise ICL in our Working Committee meeting as no state association was in its favour. We don't want to promote anybody who wants to be a parallel body. We have a policy and there will not be any re-think on this," Shah told the channel.

A few months back, the Essel Group had launched the ICL with much fanfare, announcing that some top names of world cricket would take part in it. Speculation is rife that legends like Brian Lara, Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath will join the league that promises a huge prize money.

I fully agree what Mr. Nelson & Mr Kevin says,  Kapil Dev is a legend an icon not only in India but throughout the world he has made his mark, and all know what he is,he has got a intelligent mind and brave heart, whatever he has done for our country nobody can compensate for that.  Whatever he has chosen to do he has done the right thing, whenever he has gone on to the cricket field he has gone with the national flag on his sleeve.

So you cannot doubt his integrity, who is BCCI ? Wy Kapil has to give an explanation to BCCI? See the bold man he has challenged BCCI, he doesnt even care for the pension,so BCCI please find some other way to target Kapil Dev, i salute you mr Kapil Dev ,Well done stay same way Mr. Kapil dev, I m with you,so is the whole country except BCCI.

It appears BCCI has become a dictatorial organisation and, in view of the same, if ICL can run itself professionally by promoting the game and giving an opportunity to many promising players of merit to play the game and make a livig, then they are welcome. Well, they have been able to rope in some well known names in the game like Kapil Dev, Kiran More, Sandeep Patil, Shane Warne, Brian Lara, Glenn McGrath, etc.

I think it is not right for BCCI to stop the pensions of players, just because they are having associations with the newly established body like ICL. Have they entered into contracts with these retired players that payment of pensions is conditional on being associated with only BCCI or any of its affiliated bodies and no other cricketing organisation or body? BCCI is resorting to bullying tactics. It saddens to me see that this body is being run by a bunch of people with self interests in mind and promoting the game is nothing but a hogwash.

There should be no place for people who have not represented the game at the highest level, irrespective of the fact that they are successful industrialists, politicians, businessmen, money launderers, etc., but only ex-cricketers of repute. Today, there are personalities in BCCI, some of whom have bizarre backgrounds, rather than cricketers. There are ex-cricketers engaged as some functionaries in the game and they too are happy because they make good money and enjoy perks and privileges, which they would not have enjoyed in these days of retirement or they would have found it quite exorbitant a sum to spend from their pockets.

Kapil Dev - great allrounder has done the right thing. This BCCI is not interested in promoting cricket or BCCI is not at all interested in building strong national team. Thats the reason we don't have allrounders like great Kapil Dev, Roger Binny, Amarnath, Kirmani etc.

So if ICL wants to improve the cricket then BCCI will lose its hold and this is bound to happen. Can anybody tell us what the union agriculture minister is doing as BCCI chairman? Sharad Pawar is complete failure both as BCCI chairman and Agriculuture minister.

I would like to wish Kapil all the best and wish every success to him as well as ICL. This is the right time to dissolve BCCI. New committe comprising of former players who really played for country should be office bearers and not persons like Pawar or Niranjan Shah.
