Mangaluru, Sep 20: 'Ghost the Musical' enthralled the audience with the spellbinding performance by the cast at Loyola hall, St Aloysious College on Saturday, September 19. The CAUSE Foundation from Bengaluru had staged the spectacular musical drama.
The heartwarming broadway hit is based on the 1980's movie Ghost starring Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze. The movie was proclaimed as one of the most romantic movies of all time and featured immensely popular song 'Unchained Melody'. 'Ghost the Musical'had many more songs with lively music and meaningful lyrics, vibrant dances and costumes. The story is an affirmation of how the power of true love cuts across time, space and even dimensions to bring solace and comfort to those left behind.
The Cast had some of Bengaluru's most talented singers, dancers, actors and musicians who are mainly students, doctors, lawyers, and other professionals all of whom contributed their time towards the worthy causes of art and charity.
The director of the broadway Leila Alvares has been actively involved in directing broadway musicals and organizing them for the past 18 years.
The CAUSE Foundation, a non profit organization, was begun with the primary objective of showcasing the local talent of Bangaluru, with profits from its various ventures, donated to worthy local charities. Over the it has staged many dramas and musicals in Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Chennai, Coorg, Goa, Mumbai and Kochi with its productions including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Grease, My Fair Lady, Hello Dolly, Sound of Music, Monty Python's Spamalot, Curtains and Fiddler on the Roof among others.
Music director was Vivek Menzel assisted by Bryden Lewis of Slain. Dance directors were Alisha D'Souza, Lionel DeNazareth, Lucien Charanghat and Akshay Tiwari. The broadway featured Rahael Thomas, Mana Santhanam, Priya Mendens, Karan Machado, Arvind Kasthuri, Prem Koshy and Tuffy.
Musicians were Bryden Lewis (Lead Guitar), Aashish Paul (Bass Guitar), Shirin Dhar (Piano), Blesswin Emmanuel (Brass), Reshwin Washington (Strings) and Vivek Menzel (Percussion). Sound and light were provided by Reynolds and costumes were done by Elan, Trendz Boutique and Aloka's Fashion Studio.
The response from the audience for the musical was noteworthy.
