Bangalore, Jul 10: 'Mungaru Male' ('Monsoon Showers' in Kannada) has been one of the very few movies that have created a sensation among movie-goers in recent times.

The highlights of the movie are fresh lead faces - Ganesh, until now of a popular TV show 'Comedy Time' fame and Sanjana Gandhi, who has been renamed Pooja Gandhi now, breath-taking photography, mainly of Jog Falls and Malnad landscape, crisp dialogues, sentimenatal turn of events and, not to forget, refreshingly melodious and catchy songs set to music by California-based music director Mano Murthy, and sung by Bollywood's star performers Sonu Nigam, Udit Narayan, Kunal Ganjawala, Shreya Goshal and others.

The movie was released much before the onset of monsoons. It has won the hearts of thousands film fans and has altered the fortunes of its makers and team-members. It has also turned out to be a 'wealthy rain' for Golden Star Ganesh and its all team mates.

In many centres of the state, it has had a successful run, crossing 175 days (25 weeks).  On Sunday, July 8, the function to mark the occasion on Palace ground was graced by eminent Kannada filmy icons. The whole ground wore a festive look to celebrate the  25th week  of 'Mungaru Male'  and it was jam-packed with film aficionados.

Namma Mane Huduga (the boy of our home) Ganesh came "kunidu kunidu" (dancing all the way)..... to spell-bind his fans. Dances to the tune of 'suvvi suvvale' and for other songs on the black and white stage, in all-white dresses engaged the crowd. He enthralled the crowd through his same mind-blowing dialogues, dance and also sang a song changing it thus 'anisutide yako indu nivella nannavarendu ' "Somehow there is a feeling that you are all mine", referring to the audience, which sent the crowds into a frenzy.

He told his fans,"All the fans who have gathered here are real gold and in front of them, this Golden Star is nothing in comparison.' He also thanked producer E Krishnappa and director Yogaraj Bhat who converted him from iron into worth of gold. He concluded with his patent expression 'Namaskar, namaskar, namaskar', which has made him a household name throughout Karnataka and elsewhere through the popular programme 'Comedy Time' on Udaya TV.

(During this TV programme, he would pick letters written by viewers and call the given phone numbers. Using various voice intonations for each call, he pretends to be different persons on an assortment of missions, like an insurance agent, a government official, a police officer etc. He sounds so natural that many viewers swallow the bait and are taken for a ride, until the truth is out. However, his trade-mark voice and trick has become so familiar as to even threaten to put the programme out of function and utility.)

Leading lady of the movie Pooja Gandhi aka Sanjana captivated the audience's hearts with a variety of her various rapid steps. Rain has played a very vital role in this film. As a coincidence, even at this function when Ganesh was dancing enthusiastically, some drops of rain sprinkled to remind the 'Hani hani prem kahani' (Love Story, drop by drop) and its special occasion.

Director of the film Yogaraj Bhat launched his newly-written book  "Haage summane" which focuses on the film and his pre-production experiences. He assured that readers would be entertained by this book just as the film has done.  Actors Diganth, Tarun (son of Sudhir) and various dance groups presented their bits of entertainment which mesmerized the hundreds of spectators who gathered there to watch this show lasting four hours.

Veteran film actors Ambareesh, Shivarajkumar, Raghavendra Rajkumar, Puneeth, Prem, directors Nagatihalli Chandrashekar, Rajendrababu.  Producers Parvatamma Rajkumar, Rockkline Venkatesh, Sa Ra Govindu, Karnatak Film Chamber of Commerce president T Nanjunda Shetty and state home minister M P Prakash and others participated in the celebration. The congratulated the team of 'Mungaru Male' which is firmly etched in the memory of Kannadigas forever.
