New Delhi, Jul 10: Her second round exit from Wimbledon Grand Slam notwithstanding, Sania Mirza jumped six rungs to 38th in the WTA Singles rankings announced on Monday.

Sania, ranked 44 before Wimbledon, crashed out of the singles event at the All England Club with a straight set defeat against 11th seed Nadia Petrova.

Sania also jumped two notches to improve her doubles rankings to 38. At Wimbledon, the Indian and her Israeli partner Shahar Peer had reached the third round.

On the ATP men’s doubles rankings charts, Leander Paes moved up one place to the ninth spot, while his estranged ‘Indian Express’ partner Mahesh Bhupathi dropped one place to 21.
