Mangaluru: Konkani Kutam, Bahrain award to be conferred on Edwin J F D'Souza

Mangaluru, Sep 23: Konkani Kutam, Bahrain will confer the 14th 'Konkani Kutam Award-2015' on noted writer Edwin J F D'Souza, for his immense contribution to Konkani language and literature.

This was announced by Richard Moras, local convener of Konkani Kutam, Bahrain, at a press meet here on Wednesday September 23.

"The award will be presented during a ceremony to be held at St Sebastian Platinum Jubilee Hall, Bendore on Sunday October 10 at 6.30 pm. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 50,000, a citation and a memento," Moras said.

"Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Roy Castellino will be the chief guest and editor of 'Uzvaad' fortnightly Fr Chethan Lobo will be the guest of honour on the occasion," he added.

"Edwin J F D' Souza has written 33 novels and 100 short stories and many of his novels are translated to languages like English, Tamil and Malayalam. He has also received international awards for his works," he said.

Konkani Kutam Bahrain is a voluntary forum formed in the year 2000 for promoting Konkani language, literature and culture. In its endeavour to support Konkani writers and artistes, the forum instituted the 'Konkani Kutam Award' in 2002.

Melvyn Rodrigues, William Pais, Manu Bahrain and C G S Taccode were present.

    We both are veterans of bahrain
    When he was in bahrain he used to take care of HMS . Still I remember his days afternoon biryani he used to share it is his greatness. He used th take care everybody . He was conducting yoga all HMS in bahrain missing him.
