Bahrain, Jul 15: Creativity at its best comes from the little hands of our tiny tots, in the form of art. To encourage this creativity among the community, the “Mogaveers Bahrain” organized a Drawing Competiton on Friday, 13th July, 2007, at the Papillon Auditorium, at 10.00 am

The program began with the competition and was quickly followed by a short felicitation program on the dais in the presence of a number of community members.  Girish Iddya, Association President welcomed the gathering.   The Chief Guest on the occasion was Austin Santosh, former President of  Kannada Sangha, Bahrain.   Girish Iddya, Hon. Gen. Secretary Manohar Hejmadi and former Vice-President Nagesh Naik were present on the dais. Santosh addressed the gathering and praised the untiring work put forth by the members appreciating the way in which the Association has grown rapidly staging quality programs for the community.  






During the program, the members Association bid a fond farewell to two of its members leaving the island shortly for good, Mr. Shankar Puthran and Shailaja Shankar.   Farewell speeches in their honour were given by Hon. President, Leeladhar Baikampady, Girish Iddya and Bhaskar A., wishing the couple every success on behalf of the Association.   One of the members, Surekha Theertha Suvarna was also honoured on the occasion for her invaluable contribution in various activities of the Association.   They were given special mementos on the occasion.  

The competition for the budding artists was held in three different age categories and brought out the best in the youngsters. Ashok Shetty, Managing Director of Creative Advertising and C.O. George, Senior Creative Designer, Oriental Press, were the judges of the Drawing Contest.     

Below 6 years: Divya Girish and Teesha Theertha Suvarna – awarded participation ‘consolation prizes’.

Winners 6 to 8 years:  Tanya Girish (1st prize), Gagan Mohan Suvarna (2nd prize) and Rechal Bhaskar Kanchan (3rd  prize)

Winners 8 to 10 years: Raveena Krishna Kundar (1st prize), Sahil Theertha Suvarna (2nd prize and Rebecca Bhaskar Kanchan (3rd prize)

All the winners were presented with attractive trophies by the President and Judges.   As encouragement, special gifts were given to all the contestants by the Organizing Secretary, Theertha K. Suvarna and Shailaja Shankar.

In conclusion, Manohar Hejmadi proposed the Vote of thanks.    The entire program was ably compered by Leeladhar Baikampady. The Association was thankful to the two Sponsors of the event, viz., “New Udupi Restaurant” and  Arun Kumar Airody of the Jashanmal Group.
