Addressing a press meet at the district Congress office, Kodijal said, "Rahul Gandhi will visit Bengaluru on October 9 in view of several cases of farmer suicides in the state due to burden of debts. He will meet the families of farmers who have recently committed suicide.

"Congress government has always been pro-farmer. Today the chief minister has waived off the interest on loans taken by farmers. Both the state and the central governments need to take step to put an end to farmer suicides. In this regard waiving of the interest on loans has already been done by the state government. During the tenure of UPA at the centre, loans worth Rs 2,70,000 crore were waived off. UPA government failed because we were unable to publicize our good work.
"A person was killed in Uttar Pradesh for consuming beef. A group of people entered his home, pulled him out and lynched him to death. There is a need to think where our society is heading. Elders have to guide the youngsters. We should all unitedly and peacefully uphold the Constitution," he urged.
When reporters asked about the stand of district Congress committee on the controversial Yettinahole project, he said the state government's stand is Congress party's stand. He was bombarded with questions but he stuck to the same answer.
