Panaji, Jul 24: Fresh crisis stared the Goa government in the face on Tuesday with rumours flying thick about some disgruntled Congress legislators deciding to resign from the state legislative assembly.

Though no formal resignation came till evening, three different meetings were held in the state, which fuelled the rumours further.

Two-month-old Digamber Kamat-led government is facing problems within itself with many legislators unhappy over the portfolio allocation in the cabinet. Goa's lone woman legislator Victoria Fernandes, who won from Santa Cruz constituency, had even gone on hunger strike demanding ministerial berth.

In an early morning meeting held at Margao city, state urban development minister Joaquim Alemao reportedly met his supporters and told them about his possible resignation. Alemao is disturbed over government's delay in handing him over the state urban development agency (SUDA), which falls under his ministry.

Alemao, it is learnt, will tie up with a few more disgruntled legislators to resign and face the election again on a different party'scket. When asked, Alemao, however, formally denied any such move.

In yet another meeting at Sanvordem constituency, local legislator Shyam Satardekar expressed his willingness to resign from the government and face elections again.

If all these resignations materialize the BJP will be in a position to form the government with the help of other political parties like Save Goa Front. Congress-NCP combine has 19 legislators on its side and six legislators resigning will reduce the  to 13 giving 14-legislator-strong BJP to form the government in the state.

I absolutely agree with your comments. Our Goa Govt. helps people only during election time and our poor Goans are greedy take this and vote. Can we see any development in Goa, you see the airport area, Goa will become worse than Mumbai.

They make money and sit. Can original Goans get a professional job in Goa, No - why - because they cannot afford to pay Ministers money bundles, but all people from other states pay them. This is Goa Government - you feel disgusted and shame on them.

It is very sad to hear that Goan govt is going and after few days gone. All politicians are greedy to make money ,otherwise tell me how they can afford to pay Rs-20 crores for resignation.During my college days there were strong student leaders -youth leaders but now all these youngsters know is to make love and then run on cruiselines and then show off with honda city and new bangalows.

For whom is the govt bringing IT ?Oh you are mistaken not for us it is for themselves ,they will get heavy cuts.Goan people are greedy for money during election time. You will see everyone comes for sponsorship during election.

Tell organisers you want development or short events sponsored by politicians? From where will new faces going to get money to give you sponsors. Shame on you Remember if wealth is lost nothing is lost but if knowledge is lost everything is lost. Because of Goan youth all non-graduate MLA are elected.
