Mangalore: Young German Woman Gang-raped by Four Local Youth

Mangalore, Aug 5: In a shocking incident that unsettled the citizens here and which would certainly be blotch on the image of Mangalore as a hub of education, a young German woman, who arrived in India at the suburb in Deralakatte to pursue studies, was  reportedly gang-raped by four youth on Saturday August 4 night.

The woman was totally shaken after the assault and was admitted to a private hospital in the city. The culprits have been identified by the police who have not revealed their names, taking into account the elaborate investigations under way. However it was learnt that two youth are from Kudroli while the rest are from Deralakatte.

On the basis of the complaint from German woman, highway patrol police have arrested two youth on early Sunday August 5 morning, while the search has been intensified for the other two youth who are absconding.

The police were not able to get more information from her, since she was found to be in a state of utter daze.  However the police assured that they would reveal everything once they collect all the necessary information.

    This is really a blotch/blemish on Mangaloreans and city of Mangalore. We, as Mangaloreans are known to be kind, friendly and helpful people to our visitors, which ever country they are from.

    This is a dastardly act and the culprits should be dealt with appropriate punishment ... which is castration! So that they can never ever rape anyone again!

    This is absolutely disgusting and spoils the name of the country and the city. There's no point in assuming a high moral ground regarding our traditional values vis-a-vis the Western world, as we seem to have lost most of it over time.

    These kind of incidents seem to occur too frequently to be regarded as a one-off affair. It's time our society woke up to the malaise that is afflicting it, before it is too late.

    What an insult to our Indians.  Why dont we realise that we too have mothers and sisters around us. Please punish the culprits so that we Indian girls/ladies can work abroad

    I am surprised some human beings are becoming animals, because animals do not have disciplinary and systamatic life. If they knew this, they wouldn't have raped poor German woman who came for studies.

    Youths must have thought that, if they rape German, there is no law in India. Law is equal to everyone. These culprits should not be left like this. How dare to touch an expatriate. Such people are spoiling our India's fame and name. They should be caught immediately and put in jail. A stringent action should be taken.

    By this time, they must have taken the influence of politician to protect them. Our Politicians are always there to escort such culprits, because they are also on the same line you know. They may twist this story that "Woman invited them to have sex". This is not new thing in India because every day girls/women are being raped and rapists are protected by our Politicians and real stories are twisted in favour of culprits.

    Who will help this poor girl/woman, that too German. As I learnt that, in Germany Sex is open. Police may easily close this file, by giving this silly reason by saying she is a prostitute. Today they raped German, tomorrow other nationalities or our own Indian girls.

    My kind request please do not leave these culprits. "If still Truth prevails, please give her justice".

    PS: Our country is lagging behind to educate the children about the Sex. Sexual education should be implemented in the School. Sexual subject should contain more Demerits than Merits. First of all, we have to teach children saying taht "having pre-marital sex is risky, by inviting deseases like dangerous AIDS".

    Its not only shocking but a disgrace to Mangalore which is a small city. The brutal attackers must be given the highest punishment under the law. No one should be subjected to this type of crime.

    What a shame to all Mangaloreans from these four thugs! These culprits should be dealt with strongest action provided by the law of the land.
