Mangalore: 'It was an Attempt to Rape German Student' - Clarify Police

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (GA)

Mangalore, Aug 6: There are more details available about the reported rape attempt on German student at Ullal here on Sunday August 5.

Though the immediate reports on Sunday had claimed that the German student Leonore Pinzer (22) was raped by four young men after forcing themselves into her room at Taj Tower lodging at Derlakatte in the early hours of Sunday, the subsequent inquiry and medical reports have now confirmed that it was an attempt to rape her by two young men.

As reported earlier Leonore Pinzer along with 3 other students had come to the city as per the IFMS exchange programme on July 30.  They had booked room in Taj Tower and were staying there.  Since three of her companions had gone for picnic Leonore was alone in the room.

The accused Ashraf and Jaleel too had booked room in the same lodging a day before along with two of their friends.  On Saturday night, after a party, the two other friends had gone to sleep while Ashraf and Jaleel forcibly entered into Leonore's room in the early hours and tried to rape her.

But an alert Leonore managed to escape from their hands and ran out from the lodge shouting for help.  At the same time the accused too ran from the room and got into their bike and fled the place.   However, their friends Zakeer and Hameed of Madaninagar did not know anything about these developments and they were sleeping in their room.  It was only when police came to their room that they came to know about the incidents.

Leonore had sustained minor injuries on her face and she has now been admitted to hospital for treatment.  The Konaje police have registered a case under House trespass along with Attempt to rape.  The accused are still at large and the police have expressed hopes of arresting them soon

Hearing an awful act of youth on German tourist has given a shock, what is happening to our young generation!?. Recent days our country has becoming less safe place for the tourists and recent days attack and harassment in Mumbai, Jaipur to women tourist has mortified us.

This time attack on a foreigner comes from our backyard (I mean Dearlekatte, grooming as educational zone). Culture of arrogance, improvidence attributed way of expressing fashion. Our youth heading towards disastrous path, they need proper education, guidance, moreover ethical education from the childhood.

Today’s youth lacks in fear of God, respect to elders and their responsibility to the society. Stringent punishment to be given to the perpetrator who ashamed us and degraded our culture and it will bring bad image to our beloved country in the international arena.

The culprits should be severely dealt with. Also please welcome and support the views of Mr Aadil Khan, Kasaragod/Saudi Arabia and Azhar, Kuwait which are posted in this column. By clearly expressing their views they ensured that acts of few misguided youth do not affect the image of the society they belong to.

It is a good lesson for poiticians who will give their unsolicited views on this side or that side just to play tokenism for their respective vote banks.

Act is the blossom of thought, and joy and suffering are its fruit. A youth’s mind may be likened to garden, which may be intelligently cultivated or allowed to run wild. If no useful seeds are put into it, then an abundance of useless weeds-seeds will fall therein, and will continue to produce their kind.

Parents and social organizations need to play an active role in sowing useful seeds in young minds of our society and that will surely help our youth to cultivate the habit of drawing positive motivation from the society. This way we will be able to eliminate evil forces/thoughts from our young minds and harbour good/positive thoughts in their minds to generate moral values.

It is a shocking news. The culprits should be brought to books. The police authorities should not show any mercy on these young spoiled lads and they should be put behind bars for at least 10 years.

Had it been in any Gulf countries, they would not see the day light ever for the rest of their life. Daijiworld, thank you for exposing these anti social elements. Keep up your unbiased reporting. Thanks.
